"Ocean Youth Trust Ireland is an educational charity which owns and operates 2 sail training vessels. The vessels operate under the Maritime and Coastguard Agency 'Code of Practice for Sail Training Vessels' Which regulates the vessel's construction, safety equipment and qualifications for our sea staff. Safety is of paramount importance and our staffing levels are in excess of those required by MCA and Irish Department of Marine Safety.
If you are aged 12-25 and really want to come, then we hope you can sail with us.
Ocean Youth Trust Ireland is dedicated to providing the young people of Ireland, from all walks of life and backgrounds, the opportunity to participate in the unique experience that is Sail Training.
Being part of the crew, sailing a 70ft ocean going vessel, opens up a world of adventure, of teamwork, of responsibility, of learning, of self confidence and fun. We empower and support young people to succeed."
There is universal recognition that engaging young people on extended and challenging sailing voyages provides an opportunity to develop valuable life skills that they might not otherwise have the chance to experience.
